Get ready to vote, again. Hot on the heels of national and state elections, Local 406 will conduct elections of unit officers during the general meeting in December after nominations in November at the general meeting. Both will be on Zoom.
The officers for each unit — the vice presidents and chairpersons of Editorial, Building Maintenance and Electronic PrePress — stand for elections each year. Nominations will be made orally during the monthly meeting starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20. Voting will be by secret ballot in December. If the current officers are unchallenged at nomination, there will be no voting.
Previously, this had been an informal proceeding for Local 406. However, the rules from the U.S. Office of Labor-Management Standards require more specific communication than personal emails. Therefore, in addition to a email, Local 406 is sending you a letter explaining the nominations in November and possible elections in December.
Under OLMS standards, the unit vice presidents and chairpersons are considered officers because they serve on the Executive Board.
If you wish to run, arrange to be nominated at the Wednesday, Nov. 20 meeting at 9 a.m. on Zoom.) See the Local 406 constitutional requirements in Article XIII and Article XIV, available on the union’s website, pppwu406.org. You will need to log in or to create a login.
